Privacy Policy
Effective: May 3, 2026
xBill helps you track and split shared expenses with friends and groups. This policy explains what information xBill collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
- Account information, including your email address, display name, sign-in provider, and profile photo if you add one.
- Expense information, including group names, expense titles, amounts, currencies, categories, splits, settlements, IOUs, notes, and comments.
- Receipt information when you scan or import a receipt. Receipt parsing is designed to run on device where available. If receipt image upload is enabled in the app, uploaded receipt images are stored to provide app functionality.
- Selected contact email addresses when you choose to import contacts for friend or member discovery.
- Device push notification tokens if you allow notifications.
- Local app preferences and cached app data needed for offline access and the xBill widget.
How We Use Information
- To create and manage your account.
- To show groups, expenses, balances, comments, IOUs, and settlement suggestions.
- To help find friends or group members when you choose to import selected contacts.
- To send account, invite, expense, settlement, comment, and friend request notifications.
- To improve reliability, security, and app functionality.
Third-Party Services
xBill uses Supabase for authentication, database, storage, realtime updates, and backend functions. xBill may use Apple services including Sign in with Apple, APNs, Vision, VisionKit, WidgetKit, and Core Spotlight. Email invites may be sent through Resend. Exchange rates may be requested from open.er-api.com without sending user identifiers.
Contacts
xBill uses Apple's contact picker so you choose which contacts to share. Selected email addresses are used to check whether those people are already on xBill or to prepare an invite. xBill does not use contacts for advertising or tracking.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, xBill stores a device token to deliver notifications about activity relevant to your groups and friends. You can change notification permissions in iOS Settings and app-level notification preferences in xBill.
Storage and Security
xBill stores account and app data in Supabase. The iOS app stores session data in the Keychain. Cached local app data is stored for app functionality and widget support; sensitive cached data is encrypted where supported by the app.
Account Deletion
You can request account deletion in the xBill app from Profile. Account deletion removes your authentication account, profile, and notification tokens. Some shared group records, such as expenses and comments, may remain for other group members where needed to preserve shared expense history. Direct personal data should be removed or detached according to the app's deletion process.
Tracking
xBill does not track you across apps and websites owned by other companies for advertising or data broker purposes.
